I will do my best giving a brief introduction to ancient Egyptian medicine, and to introduce the main interesting points of Papyrus Ebers.
Thinking of the audience, which will be a mix of undergraduate students, professors from Classics, retired people enthusiastic about ancient Egypt and others, it will be a challenge to please both 'Greeks and Trojans'.
Two separate presentations will be given; the first as introductory to those not acquainted with ancient Egypt and ancient Egyptian medicine in particular, and the second about the Ebers Papyrus.
Specific linguistic approach to hieroglyphic will not be presented, because I am not a linguist, and because the theme of these seminars is the importance of the scientific content in the past, not the study of the words in detail.
I will refer to my work on this Papyrus but first, to the early publications on the Ebers papyrus, and about publications where authors published more than one medical papyrus from ancient Egypt including the Ebers.
